After Google added a new entry into their robots.txt file tonight (Disallow: /orkut/albums), I began doing some research into Orkut's photo album feature. If you listen to many, the current version sucks compared to what could be possible if they just integrated it with Picasa Web Albums. When Google adds something to this file, it almost [...]
It is frustrating that Picasa Web Albums does not display the total number of photos on the footer as they do with the storage, which made me to add the number of photos manually when writing “How Many Pictures Are There on Picasa Web?“.
In case I have to repeat the tiresome process in the future, yesterday I created two scripts to handle the job for me. One is to see the total number of photos, and the other one is to see the number
Google today has added a new member to the GData family - Picasa Web Albums, the Google Code Blog announced. Like other GData APIs, you can add, request, update and delete albums, photo and tags.
Although it is not mentioned in the API page, but there’s a JSON format of the API you can use - as you might already know, my Albums page on Googlified is powered by the my little script.

At least half of Google's Checkout service has been opened up to countries other than the United States. Now, regardless of where you live, you can purchase items with Google Checkout — unfortunately, finding a store that will ship internationally is quite challenging.
One place that is accepting money from other countries already is Google's [...]
Google just released a new version of their Picasa photo management software that, among other things, includes support for Windows Vista. I have not used Vista yet — and I don't plan on using it until I absolutely have to — but when that time comes, Picasa will be right there waiting for me.

Haochi Chen noticed that Picasa Web Albums now lets you pay them even more money for more storage. Besides 6.25 gigabytes for 25 bucks, you can now get:
25GB ($100 per year)
100GB ($300 per year)
250GB ($500 per year)
If you’re a serious heavy-duty uploader, this is just great. Flickr places limits on Pro accounts that can’t be increased; there’s no amount of money you can throw at them to get more than two gigs of upload bandwidth per month
